Pie For Breakfast
A Picture Book to Teach Math
Pie For Breakfast is a fun math read aloud picture book. Bear is not an ordinary baker. He makes pies for breakfast because “pie is silly and scrumptious.” Bear uses his subtraction and equation skills to keep track of how many pies remain, so he can have pie for his breakfast, too. This teacher approved book is ideal for storytime, bedtime giggles and as a mentor text in the classroom. Pie For Breakfast is a fabulous book for kindergarten through second grade teachers. Christine has included a variety of writing features that serve as the perfect model for students when they are writing their own narratives. Integrating math and writing standards is made easy with this children’s book.

As a child Christine would spend holidays and summer vacations with her grandparents in Vermont. Grammy Taylor would make amazing dinners! At the end of dinner, the kids wouldn’t have room for another bite, so they would ask if they could save their dessert for breakfast. One word Grammy Taylor didn’t use very often with her grandchildren was “no.” So Pie For Breakfast it was! This special memory gave Christine the idea for her first book.
Christine exemplifies dedication and professionalism in everything she does. Her unwavering support and commitment to always doing what’s best for kids make her an invaluable member of our community. Christine’s positive attitude and collaborative spirit uplift everyone around her.
